According to a report from the Telegraph, Newcastle striker Joelinton is in line to be dropped for Saturday’s clash with West Ham.
The Brazilian joined the Magpies from Hoffenheim in the summer, for a fee believed to be worth £40 million, according to the Guardian.
He has struggled since his move to St James’ Park, however.
Joelinton, 23, has scored just one goal in 10 appearances for Newcastle. And his confidence really does seem to be very low at the moment.
The Telegraph suggest that Steve Bruce is ready to take the South American out of the firing line on Saturday, and drop him for his side’s visit to West Ham.
Newcastle’s options are limited up front, however.
Bruce could call upon Yushinori Muto or Dwight Gayle. Andy Carroll is set to miss out through injury, however, according to the Evening Standard.
West Ham will be confident of beating the Magpies on Saturday. And they will surely be delighted at the prospect of the visitors lining up with either Muto or Gayle up front.
Breaking Bruce’s side down, however, will be easier said than done.
Newcastle will likely head to the London Stadium with the goal of earning a point. And be they will be well-drilled and organised defensively.
What kind of threat they will pose in attack without Joelinton, however, remains to be seen.
