According to a report from Football.London, West Ham boss David Moyes has lost patience with Manuel Lanzini.
The 27-year-old joined the Hammers on loan in the summer of 2015, before making his switch a permanent one the following summer for around £9 million (The Guardian).
The Argentine was an instant hit in east London. His creativity and flair made him a real fan favourite.
But Lanzini has really struggled over the past 18 months. And the fans have turned on the midfield play-maker quickly.
He has racked up just two assists in 19 Premier League outings for the Hammers since the start of the campaign, and zero goals (Who Scored).
When Moyes was handed the reigns at the London Stadium once again at the end of December, he clearly had’t seen much of Lanzini this season. The Scot persisted with playing the 27-year-old ahead of Pablo Fornals.
But the South American’s form didn’t return.
The former River Plate man, who earns £70,000 per week according to Spotrac, is clearly completely shot of confidence, and perhaps the recent Covid-19 enforced break from action will actually do him the world of good.
Football.London claims that Moyes has run out of patience with Lanzini, however.
So it will now be interesting to see how much of a role the 27-year-old has to play when Premier League action resumes.
