According to a report from Football.London, Arthur Masuaku could be set to return for West Ham’s clash with Southampton on Saturday, having missed their last game against Liverpool through illness.
Surely David Moyes would be mad to play the Democratic Republic of Congo international, however.
The 26-year-old joined the Hammers from Olympiacos in the summer of 2016 for around £6 million (Sky Sports).
But he has failed to impress at the London Stadium on a consistent basis.
Masuaku has made 15 Premier League appearances so far this season. He has recorded a tackle success rate of just 56%, with no goals and only one assist to his name. West Ham have also kept just one clean sheet in those games (premierleague.com).
Football.London claims that the 26-year-old could be back and available for selection for Saturdays clash with Southampton.
He has been an absolute liability this season, however. And Moyes will surely stick with Aaron Cresswell at left-back when the Saints come to town.
Even more frustrating for Hammers fans is the fact that Masuaku doesn’t look like he’s particularly bothered by West Ham’s current plight.
And he will surely need to show a lot more if he is to force his way back into Moyes’s side between now and the end of the season.
