According to a report from Bleacher Report, West Ham came incredibly close to signing Barcelona whizzkid Ansu Fati last summer, but they missed out because of issues with his Spanish passport.
The 17-year-old ended up staying at the Camp Nou, and he has really impressed this season, racking up two goals and one assist in eight La Liga outings for Ernesto Valverde’s side.
And it seems as though the Hammers have missed out on an absolute gem.
The Spain under-21 international seems to have all of the attributes needed to succeed on the very biggest stage.
And the West Ham fans would have absolutely loved Fati.
Bleacher Report claims that the 17-year-old’s family had agreed to terms with the east London outfit, but a move was scuppered because of issues with the player’s passport.
Fati’s impressive form so far this season means that he will surely be out of reach for the Hammers in the future.
And despite the fact that it wasn’t West Ham’s fault, they will undoubtedly regret missing out on the young Spaniard.
He would have been a truly sensational addition for the east London outfit.
