West Ham’s Premier League fixture with Liverpool has been rearranged for Wednesday January 29th, confirmed via the club’s official website.
The Hammers were supposed to play the Reds on December 21st, but the Merseyside outfit’s participation in the Fifa Club World Cup final put paid to that.
The two sides’ recent form could not have been any different.
West Ham are on a miserable run, having won just twice in 12 Premier League games. They have fallen down to 17th spot in the table, just one point clear of the drop zone.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are absolutely flying.
Jurgen Klopp’s men sit 13 points clear at the top of the table, having won 17 and drawn one of their opening 18 games.
They look simply unstoppable at the moment, and on paper, West Ham have absolutely no chance against them.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side did hold the Reds to a draw at the London Stadium last season, however. And stranger things have certainly happened in football.
If Liverpool are on top form though, it could very well be one way traffic.
Manchester City will be hoping that West Ham can do them a favour on January 29th, but judging by their recent performances, that is highly unlikely.
