West Ham United want Callum Wilson to stay at the club, but his dream of reaching a Premier League milestone could see him leave.
Indeed, despite it looking as if the striker would depart, Hammers News understands that West Ham have offered Wilson a new one-year contract.
Keeping him would be a coup. Having proven last season that he can still score goals at an elite level, the prospect of boasting such a fine finisher at Championship level is mouth-watering.

It’s not hard to imagine the 34-year-old being a virtual guarantee of goals at that level, even despite his advancing years. Jamie Vardy, for example, bagged 18 goals at Championship level when he was a similar age to Wilson during the 2022-23 campaign.
Yet, Wilson’s personal ambition could come into play here and disappoint West Ham fans in the process.
Wilson wants to join Premier League 100 club amid Ipswich interest
According to the East Anglian Daily Times, newly-promoted Ipswich Town are interested in the former Newcastle striker.
Wilson is on 95 top flight goals, and his ambition is believed to be breaking into the famed ‘Premier League 100 club’, an exclusive group boasting only 35 members across the division’s 30-year history.

It’s an understandable target for a player who has had to battle back from so many injuries over the course of his career.
Still, admiration for his ambition does not really help West Ham.

With all due respect to Ipswich – and with the caveat that they are a Premier League team while the Hammers are not applied – it’s hard to imagine many players snubbing West Ham in favour of Portman Road if the decision was to be made on a level playing field.
However, the mess that West Ham got themselves into in being relegated from the Premier League despite banking billions in the way of TV revenue over the years means they lost such a luxury.
Watching Wilson leave after one only season in which he genuinely made a difference for a club widely expected to be involved in the relegation mire next season is relatively painful.
Sadly, however, it looks to be another reality check for supporters here in east London.
