West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media during his pre-match press conference today, and suggested that Aaron Cresswell could be in contention to return to the fold for Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United, as quoted by Football.London.
The 29-year-old showed some decent form for the Hammers, before missing last weekend’s clash with Everton through injury.
Cresswell is undoubtedly a better defender than Arthur Masuaku. The Democratic Republic of Congo international arguably offers more going forward, however.
Sheffield United are extremely strong down both flanks, however. So having the former Ipswich Town defender back and available for selection will be a big boost for West Ham.
And when speaking to reporters, Pellegrini suggested that Cresswell has been training all week without any problems, as quoted by Football.London:
“Cresswell has worked the whole week without problem.”
The Liverpool-born left-back will surely start against the Blades, if he is 100 per cent fit.
West Ham desperately need a win, and Cresswell’s defensive solidarity and know-how will surely help them achieve what would be a vital three points.
