Paul Merson suggested that Pablo Fornals is a good player, when writing his column for Sky Sports, but claimed that he should not be selected for tough away games.

The 23-year-old joined the Hammers from Villarreal in the summer, for a fee believed to be worth £24 million (BBC Sport).

Fornals has really struggled to establish himself at the London Stadium, however.

The Spaniard seems to be well off the pace in the Premier League. Perhaps it is still early to judge him though. Still, the early signs are not good.

Merson claimed that the West Ham midfielder is a good player, however, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports:

“I watched them against Burnley  and he picked the wrong team with Pablo Fornals. He’s a good player but he’s not a Burnley away player.”

Fornals has shown absolutely nothing thus far. So Merson might just be basing his opinion from the 23-year-old’s time with Villarreal.

He seems very lightweight, and he will need to improve upon his physicality, if he is to succeed in the Premier League.

The English game takes no prisoners, and Fornals will have to start showing glimpses of what he’s truly capable of, if he is to have a future with West Ham.
