West Ham United forward Pablo Felipe simply must rise to the challenge of reacting to yet another setback in his career here in east London.
At best, Pablo hasn’t fully convinced since joining West Ham United from Gil Vincente. The 22-year-old does not even look like scoring goals at times.
What ADVICE would you give to Pablo Felipe?
17 games, zero goals…
Still, Pablo has been a key player for West Ham under Nuno Espirito Santo. The energy and industry he brings off the ball is not to be sniffed at, even if that lack of a cutting edge is hugely frustrating.
There’s certainly a willingness to work, but Pablo proved hugely ineffective for West Ham against Brentford.
Now, he must respond – and he’s done that before.
Pablo has previously responded to West Ham critics
Cast your minds back to the FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Leeds.
Pablo was dreadful in West Ham’s FA Cup defeat to Leeds and missed a penalty in the shootout to compound his misery.
What followed amid some plentiful criticism online was promising. Indeed, Pablo’s best game for West Ham came directly after his worst when the forward played a key role in the big win over Wolves.
On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you about staying up now? 👀
The club bought potential when they signed Pablo. They did not buy the finished product, and linear progress was almost certainly never going to happen.
The issue is, however, that West Ham’s perilous Premier League position means they cannot afford to wait around.
The good news is that Pablo has proven he can respond, to a certain extent. Quite how much he can do that this time around could play a big role in deciding West Ham’s Premier League fate.
West Ham fans want Pablo to be dropped
Blaming one player alone for the heavy defeat at Brentford would, of course, be wrong. Pablo’s poor outing does not explain some of the dreadful defending.
Still, subscribers to TalkingPoints – a free online platform to discuss everything about the club on Hammers News – believe it’s time for Pablo to come out of the team.

One fan wrote: “Pablo must be dropped. His commitment is excellent but he has absolutely no confidence around the box. Couldn’t believe he even started today.”
Another said: “Why does Nuno persist in picking Pablo, he wouldn’t even cut it in the Championship.”
One added: “Pablo is a trier, but he’s just not Premier League standard. Needs dropping, or we are dropping.”
A large portion of the website’s readers and subscribers believe it’s time for Callum Wilson to come in alongside Taty Castellanos up front on a regular basis.
It will be interesting to see if Nuno sticks or twists for next week’s showdown with Arsenal.
