Our View: Unforgivable if David Moyes doesn’t make this key change for West Ham’s clash with Wolves

West Ham are currently in real relegation trouble.

The Hammers are sitting in 16th spot. But they are only outside the relegation zone due to a superior goal difference to those in and around them in the table.

West Ham have nine more games remaining this season.

And arguably the most important one is the next one – at home to Wolves on Sunday.

David Moyes’s side desperately need a win. A draw will be no good to them. And in order to get the three points, the Scot must make one key change – Mark Noble out and Tomas Soucek in.

The 32-year-old Hammers skipper has been in very poor form over the past few months, whilst the 24-year-old Czech ace has made an instant impact at the London Stadium.

In Premier League outings this season, Noble has averaged 1.7 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 0.3 clearances per game. Considering the fact that he is a deep-lying midfielder, those numbers aren’t great (Who Scored).

Compare them to Soucek’s for instance.

The 24-year-old midfielder had played four Premier League matches, and has averaged two tackles, two interceptions and three clearances per game (Who Scored).

He is also much more energetic, dynamic and physical than the West Ham captain.

Noble has actually been a liability in recent weeks. He is constantly found wanting in possession and his passing has been poor as well.

With Wolves coming to town, West Ham need to be at their best if they are to win the midfield battle against the likes of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

And in order for that to happen, Soucek has to play in place of Noble. If he doesn’t, it could turn out to be an unforgivable decision from David Moyes.
