West Ham boss David Moyes spoke to reporters after his side’s 3-1 win over Southampton yesterday, and praised Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio for the way in which they linked up together, as quoted by Football.London.

The Hammers earned a vital three points against the Saints – a result that moved them outside the bottom three. And that could make a massive difference for them psychologically.

Moyes’s men still have some incredibly hard games coming up, so the hard work is only just beginning.

Haller and Antonio’s link-up play yesterday will give the West Ham fans real belief that their side can avoid the drop, however.

The 25-year-old Frenchman has struggled to establish himself in England. He does have seven goals to his name now, however, and when he has been played alongside Antonio, he has looked like a totally different player.

The 29-year-old former Nottingham Forest man is a real handful, and his pace, power and willingness to run into the channels seems to open up so much space for Haller.

And Moyes praised the Hammers duo, when speaking to reporters yesterday, as quoted by Football.London:

“Some of their play… Seb and Michi were very good today. There are opportunities where we can play them together, there will be opportunities where we can’t. Sebastien grew into the game today. He got better as the game went on. As did Michi, who had a couple of chances early on as well. Both did a really good job today. They had been successful under Manuel up front at Southampton so that had been in my mind.”

Next up for West Ham is Arsenal away next weekend. And it remains to be seen whether Moyes will choose to play with two up top at the Emirates.

The Scot absolutely should do, however. The Gunners have proven that they are extremely fragile at the back, and Haller and Antonio could have a field day against Mikel Arteta’s men, if they are given the opportunity to play together again.
