Max Kilman surely faces an almighty battle for a starting berth at West Ham United.

It would be fair to say that Kilman’s move to West Ham United has not worked out.

The former Wolves defender may not have been alone in struggling since joining the club but he has often invoked the ire of supporters.

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you of West Ham staying up after they beat Spurs?

It's not over just yet 👀

Still, Kilman has started 17 of his side’s 22 Premier League games so far this season and was only recently dropped from the starting lineup.

Now that Nuno Espirito Santo has pushed the button on dropping Kilman, the immediate future looks pretty bleak for the 28-year-old.

Max Kilman the odd one out as Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo impress

A second clean sheet of the season might have proven to be out of reach for the Hammers on Saturday but their defending was still very impressive.

Nuno’s side were good value for their victory but still had to do an awful lot of defending.

As such, they had to rely on Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos. Neither have covered themselves in glory but the pair impressed in north London.

How would you rate Jean-Clair Todibo’s performance for West Ham vs Tottenham out of 10?

In my mind, that’s his best game yet?!

Todibo won all six of his ground duels against Spurs. Mavropanos, meanwhile, made 13 clearances.

They were resolute and reliable, helping limit Spurs to very few clear-cut chances.

There’s not been a lot to shout about on the defensive front at West Ham all season but the Spurs performance suggested there’s something to work with.

The defender West Ham are looking to sign in January

It was great to see the aforementioned duo playing well. They’ve cost the club a lot of money and haven’t always looked at the races.

Still, it’s clear that the defence needs help. One good performance does not change that.

With that in mind, it makes sense as to why the club would be looking for further reinforcements.

To that end, West Ham want to sign Coventry defender Bobby Thomas in January

It remains a difficult deal to do, however, with the Sky Blues on course to win promotion to the Premier League under Frank Lampard.
