Martin Keown absolutely raved about West Ham ace Robert Snodgrass, when speaking during an appearance on BBC’s Match of the Day programme last night (October 26th).

The 32-year-old hasn’t featured much at all for the Hammers this season, but he started against Sheffield United yesterday.

And the Scot didn’t disappoint. Snodgrass scored West Ham’s only goal against the Blades, and he undoubtedly sent a very clear message to Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers winger, who earns £40,000 per week according to Spotrac, has played second fiddle to Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko this season.

He’s surely deserving of a chance to start regularly again now, however.

And Keown explained just how important the former Hull City man is to West Ham, when speaking during an appearance on BBC’s Match of the Day programme last night (October 26th):

“The West Ham faithful are not an easy group to play in front of. And this fella (Snodgrass) – they really love him, because he’s dogged, he’s got really good ability. They were jumping out of their seats every time he got the ball today. He’s a big game player. He can put the ball in the back of the net and he does so. I thought he was the outstanding player today for West Ham.”

Keown’s words will be a big boost for Snodgrass. The Scot has the ability to make a big difference for West Ham this season, and yesterday’s fine performance would have given him the world of confidence.

Manuel Pellegrini must start Snodgrass now against Newcastle next weekend. His big name players are quite simply just not producing. It’s time the 32-year-old is given his chance to shine.
