Mark Noble shares what was unique about his penalty vs Watford

West Ham ace Mark Noble bagged his first goal of the season away at Watford last weekend.

The 32-year-old celebrated 15 years with the Hammers’ senior side by scoring a penalty inside the first three minutes of the game.

And it it was Noble’s first touch of the match.

The West Ham midfielder wrote his regular column for the London Evening Standard, and suggested that it was a unique occasion for him at Vicarage Road:

“I think the penalty I converted at Watford after three minutes was my first touch of the game — and that’s never happened to me before.”

Noble is a vital player for the Hammers. He has his critics, but when he is playing, Manuel Pellegrini’s side definitely look a lot stronger.

The experienced Englishman looks as fit as he has ever been, and he will undoubtedly have a key role to play for West Ham this season.

Taking penalties is Noble’s speciality, and he never really looks like missing from the spot.

He has scored 36 out of 40 spot kicks, and that really is an impressive statistic.

Noble will be hoping to add to his goal tally for West Ham this season, and with VAR now in use, there will be every chance of him doing just that from the spot many more times between now and May.
