Mark Lawrenson suggested that West Ham United ace Jesse Lingard looked really sharp against Aston Villa on Wednesday night considering the fact that he hadn’t played a Premier League game previously this season, when writing his regular column for BBC Sport.

David Moyes brought the 28-year-old to the London Stadium on loan in January up until the end of the season.

There were eyebrows raised at the time.

Lingard instantly silenced his critics, however, with a magnificent display for West Ham on his debut away at Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

Mark Lawrenson praises West Ham ace Jesse Lingard

Jesse made West Ham tick. What an addition he he could turn out to be. Hopefully we can sign him permanently in the summer. Up until then, however, the Hammers fans should just enjoy watching the Manchester United owned ace.

Mark Lawrenson suggested that Lingard’s fitness levels really impressed him considering how little he has played this season, when writing his regular column for BBC Sport:

“New loan signing Jesse Lingard made an instant impression with his two goals in that game, and he has clearly been training hard and looked really sharp despite hardly playing for Manchester United this season. There will be more to come from him, I’m sure.”

To perform the way he did. against Villa considering his lack of game-time this season really was very impressive. And he deserves great credit for it.

Next up for West Ham is a trip to Fulham tomorrow.

Hopefully Lingard will be at his very east once again because if the Hammers win, we can jump inside the top four with Liverpool not playing until Sunday.

The European charge is most definitely on. And Jesse Lingard will have a huge role to play for West Ham between now and the end of the season.
