BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson expects to see a reaction from West Ham away at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

The Hammers were absolutely taken apart by Premier League champions Manchester City at the weekend.

And many West Ham fans left the London Stadium completely deflated.

Manuel Pellegrini spent big in the summer, but Saturday’s display against City really wasn’t up to scratch, in spite of the obvious quality of the opposition.

The east London outfit are being tipped to push for the top seven this season, and if they are to do just that, they will need to make vast improvements going forward.

And Lawrenson suggested that West Ham fans will see a reaction for their side at the Amex Stadium, when speaking exclusively to BBC Sport:

“West Ham were just taken apart by Manchester City and I look at that and think Brighton have got to go after them. I am going to go for a draw here, though. It was City that the Hammers were playing, and I am expecting to see a reaction from them.”

Brighton will be far from a pushover, and they will go into the game against the Hammers in buoyant mood, having beaten Watford 3-0 away on the opening day of the season.

Should West Ham play to their full potential, however, they should have more than enough to dispatch of the Seagulls.
