Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters after his West Ham team were beaten 3-2 by Tottenham at the London Stadium today, and shared what he told his players at half-time, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Hammers were woeful today, and the 3-2 scoreline actually ended up flattering the home side.

Spurs took the lead after 36 minutes after a Heung-Min Son strike. Lucas Moura then made it 2-0 just before the break.

Things looked really bleak for West Ham.

And Pellegrini shared with reporters what he told his Hammers flops during the half-time interval, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“You see that the team never gives up,” he repeated. “Of course, you must have confidence that you can reverse the situation and that’s one of the things we talked about at half-time. We said we could not concede another goal because we could score two goals, but we conceded another one in the second half. Of course, difficult games are coming but I continue trusting in the players to return to winning form.”

Things went from bad to worse for West Ham when Harry Kane made it 3-0 to Tottenham shortly after the restart.

The east London outfit did strike back twice with goals from the impressive Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna, but it was too little too late.

West Ham now gave a real uphill battle ahead of them. They face consecutive away trips to Chelsea and Wolves before welcoming Arsenal to the London Stadium over the next couple of weeks.

And if they fail to pick up a couple of wins from those games it could be the end of the road for Pellegrini.
