Last chance for Nuno as West Ham’s immediate future rests on reversing terrible trend

A fourth consecutive poor away performance for West Ham United will surely see them all but relegated this weekend.

While West Ham still have hope of overtaking Tottenham in the Premier League table, they need to beat Newcastle at St James’ Park to stand any realistic hope of doing so.

Oh wow 👀 How has Tottenham’s draw with Leeds made YOU feel about the relegation battle?!

This weirdly feels like a boost?

There are certainly reasons to believe that West Ham can pull themselves out of the relegation zone on Sunday afternoon, but recent away performances have not been good enough.

Nuno Espirito Santo has to change that. The immediate future of the club depends on it.

West Ham have one more chance to improve terrible away record

West Ham are winless on the road since beating Fulham in March.

Since then, they’ve lost to Aston Villa, drawn away at Crystal Palace and tasted defeat at Brentford.

Though all of them were difficult games, Nuno’s side were not good enough in any of them. Indeed, that poor away form is what really could send the Hammers down into the Championship.

How do you feel about the decision now the VAR audio has been released? 😬

What was the correct decision? Goal, no goal or penalty? 🤔

In any other recent season, going to St James’ Park would be a concern. Still, the proud home form upon which Eddie Howe has built all his success on Tyneside has deserted the Magpies this season.

They have already lost seven times this season and supporters have twice booed the team off at St James’ after dreadful performances and results.

Relegation rivals Spurs have won seven of their away games this season, while West Ham have left an away Premier League ground with just four victories.

That is the difference between them at this stage. It is not fatal yet, but it could well be unless Nuno reverses West Ham’s worrying trend of performing so poorly away from home.

This is West Ham’s final away game of the season. Unless they get a crucial victory, it could well be their last away in the Premier League for quite some time.
