West Ham legend John Moncur raved about Michail Antonio, when speaking to the club’s official website, suggesting that the 29-year-old could cause Arsenal all sorts of problems at the Emirates on Saturday.
The powerful attacker joined the Hammers from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth £7 million (BBC).
Antonio has really impressed for West Ham since moving to east London, and he is a firm fan favourite at the club.
The 29-year-old has racked up 30 goals and 21 assists in 144 games during his time with the Hammers (Transfermarkt).
The former Forest man makes such a big difference to West Ham when he’s on form. And they really need him to be firing on all cylinders between now and the end of the season.
Moncur is clearly a big fan.
The Hammers legend told WHUFC.com how he expects Antonio to cause Arsenal all sorts of problems on Saturday:
“I believe we have got players who can change games. The likes of Michail Antonio can cause them problems because their centre-halves don’t like players running beyond them, so I can see us setting up the same way we did against Southampton, because we need to stretch them.”
Arsenal are notoriously weak in defence, and if Antonio is at it on Saturday, he could have a field day against the likes of David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi.
West Ham desperately need a result against the Gunners.
And let’s hope that Antonio and the other 10 players who take to the field turn up and put in a really top-class performance against Mikel Arteta’s side.
