John Moncur compared West Ham youngster Jeremy Ngakia to Manchester United ace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, when speaking exclusively to Love Sport Radio today.
The 19-year-old right-back has only played four Premier League games for the Hammers this season. But he has really impressed. And it could be argued that he has already made the right-back position his own.
Despite his tender years, Ngakia has displayed a certain level of maturity. He has showcased exceptional pace, dogged determination and an impressive positional sense.
And Moncur compared the West Ham teenager to Manchester United’s £50m summer signing (BBC) Aaron Wan-Bissaka, when speaking exclusively to Love Sport Radio today:
“There is a rawness about him obviously but he’s got a lot of natural talent if you look at you know, he eats the ground up, he looks good at times going forward. He reminds me a little bit of Wan-Bissaka a little bit, he’s leggy and he’s a good defender. “
In four Premier League appearances for the Hammers this season, Ngakia has averaged three tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 3.25 clearances and 3.25 ball recoveries per game (premierleague.com).
Meanwhile, in 26 Premier League outings this season for Manchester United, Wan-Bissaka has averaged 3.8 tackles, 2.03 interceptions, 1.88 clearances and 5.58 ball recoveries per game (premierleague.com).
Both players have been mightily impressive this season. And it is clear to see that Ngakia has a long way to go before he can be mentioned in the same bracket as Wan-Bissaka.
But it seems as though he West Ham youngster is certainly on the right path.
