Jarrod Bowen posted an apology message to the West Ham fans and his teammates on Instagram yesterday after his horror miss and Declan Rice responded emphatically.
The 25-year-old Hammers ace scored our first goal of the afternoon yesterday but he was to blame for our failure to take a point from the contest.
Michail Antonio swung in a cross in the 94th minute as West Ham trailed Leeds by three goals to two.

An empty net beckoned in front of Jarrod Bowen yet he inexplicably decided to put his chest on it rather than head the ball into the back of the net.

The Bowen miss against Leeds was possibly the worst of the season so far.
These things happen in a game situation sometimes though. When you only have a split second to make a decision, the law of averages will dictate that every now and again, you choose the wrong option.
The 25-year-old felt the need to take to Instagram after the game to apologise to the Hammers fans and his teammates…and Declan Rice responded:
Here’s the thing…Bowen really doesn’t need to apologise for anything.
There 25-year-old has been absolutely brilliant this season for the Hammers.
Bowen has bagged nine goals and 10 assists in 31 games for West Ham so far this term (Transfermarkt). Without those goal contributions, we would be nowhere near where we are today.
David Moyes is a huge fan of Jarrod. He’s a player that the Scot trusts implicitly. The same can be said of the West Ham fans.

Bowen is a hugely popular player at the London Stadium. He gives his all for the football club and that’s all the Hammers fans expect.
The Jarrod Bowen miss yesterday was an absolute shocker. That can’t be denied.
But there is absolutely no need for him to apologise to us. We love you Jarrod. Keep being you.
Without the 25-year-old, West Ham United would be in a lot worse position than the one we’re currently in, that’s for sure.
