Jamie Redknapp praised Sebastien Haller for his display during West Ham’s win over Watford on Saturday, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail.
The Frenchman arrived at the London Stadium for around £45 million in the summer, and Hammers fans were expecting great things from the towering striker.
Haller, 25, failed to score for West Ham during their Premier League opener against Manchester City.
He then missed last weekend’s trip to Brighton through injury, but he returned against Watford on Saturday.
And the former Eintracht Frankfurt man got off the mark, with two very well taken goals.
Redknapp praised Haller, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail, suggesting that the critics need to get off the Frenchman’s back:
“I’m glad two strikers in particular showed what they are about this weekend to silence the critics. One was Aston Villa’s Wesley, a £22million buy from Bruges, the other West Ham’s Sebastien Haller, a £45m purchase from Eintracht Frankfurt. Neither had played in the Premier League but both led the line and scored.”
He went on to say:
“Haller scored twice at Watford on Saturday, one a tap-in, the other an overhead kick. They did their jobs and led their teams to their first wins of the season. Now let’s get off their backs and see how they progress.”
Next up for the Hammers is a trip to Newport County in the League Cup, before they play host to Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday.
And Haller will be hoping to add to his tally for West Ham before the two-week international break.
