Italian website Calcio Mercato have run a piece on the biggest flops coming out of the Bundesliga this summer titled ‘110 million worth of flops’, and West Ham hitman Sebastien Haller is included in the list.
The 25-year-old joined the Hammers from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer for around £45 million (BBC Sport).
He has really struggled to establish himself in the Premier League, however.
Haller has bagged just four goals in 16 appearances for West Ham, with just one of those coming in his last 13 outings.
The Frenchman has looked totally isolated up front on his own. He must show more though, and work harder if he is to succeed at the London Stadium.
If Manuel Pellegrini played someone up alongside Haller, however, it might help the striker turn things around.
The 25-year-old thrived when playing as part of a two-pronged attack alongside Luka Jovic at Eintracht Frankfurt.
And it is interesting that both those players have been named by Calcio Mercato as two of the three ‘flop signings of the summer’.
Whether Haller will eventually come good remains to be seen.
For that to happen, however, he needs to be helped out by his manager (whoever that may be) and put in more of a shift.
The Frenchman has the talent, that’s for sure, but he still has a long way to go if he is to be classed as a success. And Calcio Mercato’s piece is a gentle reminder for the 6ft 3in hitman that he quite simply isn’t doing enough at the moment.
