West Ham ace Issa Diop spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and admitted that losing Lukasz Fabianski for a prolonged period of time is ‘bad news’ for the Hammers.
The 34-year-old stopper has been one of West Ham’s best players since moving to the London Stadium from Swansea City in the summer of 2018.
The Polish ace cost the Hammers just £7 million. And what an absolute bargain that has now proven to be.
Fabianski oozes coolness and composure, and he undoubtedly gives the West Ham defenders more confidence.
The east London outfit have a real problem now, however. The former Swansea and Arsenal man suffered an injury against Bournemouth on Saturday, and he’s been ruled out for around 2-3 months.
Roberto will now have to fill in for the Pole. And that will be a real test of the 33-year-old Spaniard’s capabilities.
Diop spoke to WHUFC.com on Saturday, and admitted that losing Fabianski to injury is ‘bad news’:
“It was a good game, but we lost Lukasz which is bad news, so I hope they are going to recover well and quickly.”
The only shining light for West Ham is that there are two two-week international breaks over the course of the next two months.
So if Fabianski is out of action for two months, he will miss just seven or eight Premier League games.
And the sooner he is back and available for selection the better for West Ham.
