Premier League

Is it too early to say that West Ham’s Pablo Fornals is just not cut out for the PL?

West Ham earned a massive three points with a 2-0 win over Manchester United today.

There were plenty of positives for the Hammers. They were far from their best, however.

And one player in particular failed to show up.

Pablo Fornals just wasn’t at the races. The Spaniard took too long when in possession, and was often dispossessed. He seems to slow West Ham down when they are in transition. And it is clear to see that the midfielder is used to the more pedestrian pace of La Liga.

The play-maker arrived at the London Stadium from Villarreal for £24 million in the summer.

And he arrived with a big reputation. It’s been an incredibly slow start to life in England for Fornals, however.

In six appearances for the Hammers, the Spaniard has racked up just a single goal and zero assists.

He seems to lack and kind of pace and power, and although he is obviously technically gifted, it is hard to see what he brings to the table.

It is obviously very early doors, however. And is perhaps way too early to judge him.

The question must be asked though. Is Fornals simply not cut out for the intense nature of the Premier League?

Have West Ham been sold a dud?

Only time will tell, but the early signs are not good.
