Andrew Thomas Carroll, a name that seems to infuriate me recently. I don’t know what’s worse his injury record or his discipline since joining the club in 2012, whether it’s his poor attitude on the field and picking up suspensions or whether it’s staying out all night partying. After having so many injuries you would think that he would try his best when he is fully fit and not try to jeopardise that, however this past weekend he did exactly that by picking up two quick-fire yellow cards… 99 seconds apart to be exact. The first yellow was debatable, to say the least, but the ref made the decision, however the second booking I don’t know what Carroll was thinking to lead in with his elbow which is a yellow card offence after just picking up a booking. He needs to crack down on his own attitude before he gets himself in trouble with the club and worse off with the fans who sing his name week in and week out.

Unlike Marko Arnautovic, he still hasn’t apologised to the fans of the club but especially to those who were at the game for putting the result at risk for having a lapse of concentration. With Carroll missing out on Friday against Brighton and Diafra Sakho looking to start up top with Javier Hernandez for the first time many people have called for the West Ham U23’s talisman Toni Martinez to be called up into the first team to perhaps come off the bench after picking up a hat-trick against Manchester United’s U23’s last weekend. I totally agree I think he should be given the chance to prove his worth in the first team maybe by coming off the bench. He showed last season when on loan at Oxford United that he can score against Premier League opposition in Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

This would also be a good chance to show to the other youngsters at the club that if they can consistently play well for the U23’s that they could also be given a chance in the first team. I would also like to see Declan Rice make his return against Brighton after seemingly being shifted out of the team, even if he is allowed 10 minutes at the end of the game to help see out the result it will help enhance and add more experience to the youngster’s game.

Will it happen? Well, only time will tell when the team gets announced tomorrow.
