Hammers skipper Mark Noble has denied talk of a rift in the West Ham dressing room, when speaking exclusively to the Evening Standard.
The Sun reported earlier this week that all is not well behind closed doors at West Ham, with some senior players questioning their fellow teammates’ desire.
In truth, it would be no surprise if there were some words being said amongst the players.
West Ham are in all sorts of bother. A run of one win in 10 Premier League games has seen them drop down to 16th place in the table. And they sit just one point clear of the drop zone.
Noble has come out fighting, however.
The Hammers skipper denied talk of low morale amongst the players, when speaking exclusively to the Evening Standard:
“We — the manager and the players — are on the receiving end of a lot of negativity and I fully understand there have been suggestions, this week for example, that there is a rift in the camp, that our dressing room is divided. I’d like to put that one to bed right now. There is no rift in our dressing room. Of course, a few wins would help the mood but the reality is that our dressing room morale is still really good.”
Next up for West Ham is a trip to Southampton tomorrow.
A defeat at St Mary’s could see them drop inside the bottom three and Manuel Pellegrini lose his job.
Tomorrow’s performance will give us a great indication of just how much the players are in support of the Chilean.
If they don’t turn up, it will be clear that they want him gone just as much as the fans.
