How has Andre Ayew got on since leaving West Ham for £18 million in 2018?

West Ham signed Andre Ayew from Swansea City in the summer of 2016 for around £20.5 million (BBC).

The 86-capped Ghana international experienced a largely unsuccessful spell in east London, however, racking up just 12 goals and five assists in 50 games for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

The 30-year-old was swiftly moved on, returning to Swansea for around £18 million in January 2018 (Evening Standard).

In his prime, Ayew was a great player, and it is a shame for both him and West Ham that things didn’t work out for him at the London Stadium.

But how has the Ghanaian got on since leaving the Hammers?

Ayew has racked up 12 goals and eight assists in 44 appearances for Swansea, since making his move back to the Liberty Stadium (Transfermarkt).

The 30-year-old spent last season in Turkey on loan with Fenerbahce, when he recorded just five goals and two assists in 38 games (Transfermarkt).

The Ghanaian has returned as a really key player for Swansea this season, however. In 31 Championship games, he has contributed with 10 goals and five assists (Transfermarkt).

The forward has averaged 2.7 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in those outings. He also has an impressive pass completion rate of 78.4 per cent (Who Scored).

The Swans are currently sitting in 11th spot in the Championship table, just five points adrift of the play-off spots. And if they are to gatecrash the top six, they will need Ayew to be on his very best form between now and the end of the season.

Things might not have worked out for him at West Ham, but he has been a standout player at Championship level for Swansea.
