West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has today confirmed that the Hammers are indeed considering offering Harry Redknapp a route back into football if they decide to part ways with Manuel Pellegrini.

Football Insider claimed yesterday that West Ham were contemplating offering their former manager the job until the end of the season.

The 72-year-old spent seven years at Upton Park as a player and seven as a manager.

Current West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is under real pressure at the moment. And he allegedly has the Southampton game tomorrow to save his job.

The Hammers are in all sorts of trouble at the moment. They currently sit in 16th spot in the table, just one point clear of the drop zone.

West Ham are staring relegation in the face, and they could easily be inside the bottom three at Christmas.

And if they do find themselves down there, someone like Redknapp might just be the ideal appointment.

He is an east-ender, and he knows how the club works. The 72-year-old is notorious for having instant impacts wherever he goes, and that is exactly what the Hammers need right now.

It could be argued that he is well past his best at the age of 72, however. For the short-term though, he could be the perfect appointment for West Ham.

And as Ex says, the perfect end to Redknapp’s fantastic career too.
