Harry Redknapp suggested that West Ham could force their way into the top six this season, when speaking exclusively to talkSPORT.
The Hammers have made a fine start to their 2019/20 Premier League campaign. Despite losing heavily on the opening day to Manchester City, they have taken seven points from their first four games. And they currently sit in seventh spot in the table.
Manuel Pellegrini spent wisely in the summer, and West Ham look like they could be a real force this season.
Redknapp was a guest on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT yesterday, and suggested that he can see the east London outfit pushing for a top six finish this season:
“The two teams I can see pushing to break into the top six this year, if anybody, is West Ham and Leicester. West Ham do look very decent this year. I think they are in for a good season.”
West Ham will need to find a real level of consistency this season, if Redknapp’s prediction is to prove correct.
The Hammers have plenty of firepower going forward, but they will need to improve defensively if they are to crack the top six.
Next up for West Ham is a trip to the west Midlands to take on Aston Villa on Monday night. And those are the kind of games that they must be winning, if they are going to finish inside the top six this season.
