West Ham legend James Collins sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and admitted that he thinks about the Hammers every single day.
The 36-year-old, affectionately know as ‘Ginge’ by the West Ham fans, left the London Stadium in 2018, having spent 10 years with the east London outfit during two separate spells.
Collins was a cult hero amongst the Hammers fanbase.
When he was released 18 months ago, many West Ham fans questioned the wisdom behind letting the Welshman leave.
And how they could do with someone like Collins at the club now.
The former Hammers centre-back spoke to WHUFC.com, and admitted that he still absolutely loves West Ham:
“Yes, incredible. I had the time of my life. I arrived in 2005 and then I left for Villa in 2009 and as people know, I didn’t really want to leave to go there, but then I came back in [2011] and had six great years. I have so many memories. I obviously saw the change from Upton Park to London Stadium at that time in my career. It’s amazing. I still think about this club every day.”
The Hammers are in dire straits at the moment. Aside from Mark Noble, they seem to lack any kind of real characters.
The east London outfit are in real trouble. They sit just three points clear of the drop zone. And their next three games, away at Chelsea and Wolves and home to Arsenal could end up defining their season.
Should they fail to pick up any positive results in those games, Manuel Pellegrini could be sent packing.
And maybe then the Chilean will regret having released Collins when he first took over.
