Gary Neville predicted that West Ham could finish inside the top six this season, when speaking during the Sky Sports’ podcast.

The Hammers have made a fine start to their 2019/20 campaign, taking 11 points from their opening six games, and they currently sit in fifth spot in the Premier League table.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side really do look like the real deal this term. The Chilean has invested heavily in his squad over the past 12 months or so.

And with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all looking far from convincing this season, there seems to be a place inside the top six up for grabs.

Neville explained how West Ham could force their way inside the European places this season, when speaking during the Sky Sports’ podcast:

“If West Ham and Leicester keep their squads fit, they have got a really good chance of getting into that sixth or fifth position. I looked at Manchester United’s team for instance on Sunday compared to West Ham and you would probably swap quite a few players into it. So there is a really good chance for West Ham and Leicester to push into those fifth and sixth positions.”

West Ham face Oxford United in the Carabao Cup tonight, before they travel to the south coast to take on Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Cherries will represent a really stern test for the Hammers, and a win against Eddie Howe’s men would be a real statement of intent from Pellegrini’s side.

West Ham seem to have what is required for a top six finish this season. They will just need to be consistent throughout the entire campaign, however, if they are to do just that.
