Porto boss Sergio Conceicao has suggested that Felipe Anderson must work harder, when speaking to DESPORTO AO MINUTO, as the West Ham loanee continues to struggle in Portugal.

The 27-year-old left the Hammers to link up with Porto on loan earlier this month in a bid to revive his flagging career.

Anderson joined West Ham from Lazio in the summer of 2018 for around £41.5 million (BBC).

And despite making a decent start to life in England, the Brazilian really struggled last season. He began this term on the bench before being shipped out to Porto on loan.

And Anderson has made an inauspicious start to life in Portugal.

The 27-year-old has made just one appearance for Porto from a possible four games – a 31 minute cameo from the bench. He has been an unused substitute for the Portuguese outfit’s last three games.

And Porto boss Sergio Conceicao told Anderson that he quite simply needs to work harder, when speaking to DESPORTO AO MINUTO:

“Felipe knows that in order to return to having brilliant moments as he had [so far in his career], it is necessary to work hard. Anything he does now [at Porto] can have great positive results in the future. And everything that has already happened [in his career] no longer matters, it stays in the bank. The important thing is what he will do at FC Porto.”

Anderson’s future at the London Stadium is clearly in jeopardy with David Moyes at the helm.

And he certainly hasn’t made much of an impression with Porto so far.

Only time will tell whether the Brazilian can rediscover the form that he displayed during his time with Lazio.

Because if he doesn’t, Anderson could end up being remembered as a real wasted talent.
