ExWHUemployee provided an update on West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast on Wednesday night (March 4th).
The 28-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2018. But he has proven to be somewhat of a disaster signing for the east London outfit.
The former England international has made just 16 appearances in all competitions for West Ham. And he has racked up only one goal and one assist during those outings (Transfermarkt).
Wilshere earns £100,000 per week at the London Stadium, and his contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2021.
He hasn’t played for the Hammers since October last year, however. And it is hard to envisage a scenario where he becomes a key part of David Moyes plans over the next 15 months or so.
And ExWHUemployee provided an update on the injured midfielder, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast on Wednesday night (March 4th):
“Wilshere’s back in light training. Whether we’ll ever see him again or even this season is debatable though.”
It is such a shame that Wilshere’s body hasn’t allowed him to fulfil his full potential.
On his day, he was an exceptional talent. But at just 28-years-old, his career is in danger of being over prematurely.
Who knows? Perhaps Wilshere could return for West Ham and remain fit for a sustained period of time. But we all know that that is highly unlikely.
