ExWHUemployee suggested that David Moyes doesn’t think that Albian Ajeti is ready to play regular Premier League football, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday, March 11th).

The 23-year-old joined the Hammers in the summer of 2019 from FC Basel for around £8.5 million (Football Insider).

The Switzerland international has really struggled to establish himself at the London Stadium, however.

It could be argued, however, that Ajeti simply hasn’t been given enough chances to prove himself for West Ham.

The former Basel man has made 11 appearances for the Hammers so far this season, and has failed to register either a goal or an assist (Transfermarkt).

During those 11 outings, he has only played 398 minutes, however.

And ExWHUemployee has speculated that Moyes still doesn’t believe that Ajeti is ready to play regularly in the Premier League, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night:

“I don’t think Moyes rates him. Simple as. People tell me on the training pitch that he’s a decent finisher. I just don’t think Moyes thinks he is ready to play in the Premier League.”

With nine huge games remaining for the Hammers this season, it is unlikely that Moyes will throw Ajeti in, in what would be such highly pressurised situations.

Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller have also looked good playing together in recent weeks.

Maybe after a full year in England, the 23-year-old will be able to make more of an impact at the club next season.

He is certainly capable. His record of 43 goals in 96 games for FC Basel (Transfermarkt) proves that he has what it takes.

But the Premier League is a huge step up in quality. And the jury is still very much out on the West Ham hitman.
