West Ham travel to Everton this weekend in desperate need of points.

After four Premier League games, West Ham sit at the foot of the Premier League table. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have lost all of their league matches this season.

The Hammers head to Goodison Park – a notoriously difficult fixture for West Ham.

But ahead of the game, there is some motivation to pick up some points against a depleted Everton squad.

Not only will West Ham be searching for their first points of the season, but there is a chance to reverse an unwanted record.

The unwanted record

West Ham inherited an unwelcome record after falling to a 1-0 defeat against Wolves.

It was the 352nd Premier League loss for the Irons and with Everton claiming a draw against Huddersfield Town, it pushed West Ham into top spot.

Everton and West Ham had been tied on 351 losses before this game. Before the season, Everton held the record but the Hammers have lost four on the bounce.

This weekend, West Ham have the perfect chance to reverse this record. Although West Ham will be at least joint top by Sunday evening, dragging Everton to 352 losses would be some consolation for the poor start to this season.

Everton vs. West Ham

West Ham have enjoyed little success at Goodison Park in the Premier League era.

Since the inception of the Premier League, West Ham have won just three matches at Everton. The most recent one was two seasons ago, with Dimitri Payet completing a 3-2 comeback win against ten men.

Three points at Everton this weekend would help improve that head-to-head record and drag Everton to joint top of the all-time Premier League losses table.
