I must say, what a result and a great team performance!!
Ok, I will admit that when I saw the team sheet and saw Ravel and Cole on the bench but more importantly Maiga starting, I was skeptical to say the least. However, after seeing us completely dominate a game and not for the first time this season, I was very pleased with the result. Like every Hammers fan should be.
Two things though…one, I honestly think we could’ve started the kids against Martin Jol’s Fulham. I have always thought he was a decent manager but I was surprised by the lack of interest or heart that the Cottagers put in. As I write this, I hear Jol has been sacked. They are a club that could go down.
Two, as much as I enjoyed the performance, I personally would start with the XI we finished with, I thought Ravel came on and showed why he should start. Do you see Nolan doing that?? I don’t! His run for the third goal was almost as good as the goal against Spurs. I also thought Carlton Cole showed why we need the big man up front. First goal by a striker came a day before December the first!
So with that in mind, my team would be that eleven and have Jarvis and Nolan on the bench. I must also say what a great first premiership game back by Linda (or George to some) McCartney! He looked decent but again, it was against a very poor team.
Which brings me onto Palace. I truly think we could go there and win 1-0 or 2-0! They have Gabbidon at the back! That says it all. I have a Palace mate and stand by my statement they’re one of if not the worst team the Prem have ever had! Again, my opinion but they are woeful. It will be harder because of Pullis first home game as manager.
However, I will go 1-0 Carlton Cole and another move up the table. With Carroll back in England and ready to start training, I think it will be a huge life for the club. If we could get the three points, that would help as I don’t expect to get anything from the usual pointless trip at Anfield. However, I wasn’t expecting anything away to Spurs and I won’t forget that score line for a while!
