West Ham signed Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt for £45 million in the summer. And the Bundesliga outfit’s sporting director Fredi Bobic has suggested that he was surprised that Bayern Munich did not make a move for the Frenchman, when speaking exclusively to German media outlet Sport Bild.
The 25-year-old, who earns £70,000 per week according to the Mirror, has made a fine start to his Hammers career, scoring three goals in five Premier League appearances thus far.
Haller’s all-round game has been really impressive. He seems to have all of the ingredients required to be a success in the Premier League.
The Frenchman is big and strong, and is excellent when playing with his back to goal. His link up play is truly superb, and West Ham look like a really dangerous attacking force when he is playing.
Haller is undoubtedly good enough to play for one of Europe’s elite clubs, and Hammers fans should be very grateful that they’ve got him.
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic told Sport Bild how he was surprised that German giants Bayern Munich didn’t come in for the West Ham striker in the summer:
“I always thought that they would call us at some point about Sebastien Haller as a back-up for Lewandowski.”
Whilst £45 million for Haller seemed like a lot of money at the time, it could end up proving to be a bargain.
If he manages to score 20 goals or more this season, West Ham have every chance of finishing inside the top six.
And if they go on to do just that, Haller’s value will sky rocket.
