West Ham experienced a bitterly disappointing 3-2 defeat to Liverpool last night.

Having gone behind early on in the game, the Hammers showed great courage, spirit and fight to get back into it. And after equalising in the first-half, they took the lead early on in the second.

West Ham couldn’t prevent Liverpool from coming back and winning the game. But there were some incredibly positive signs from David Moyes’s men at Anfield last night.

And former Hammers players Don Hutchison and Danny Gabbidon reacted on Twitter to what was a very impressive showing from the east London outfit:

Hammers need to match that performance week in, week out

West Ham have now set the bar performance wise.

They have home games against Southampton, Wolves and Chelsea to come in their next six matches, and three wins in those fixtures could completely turn their season around.

The Hammers players have shown what they are capable of when they apply themselves.

The only disappointing performances last night were from Felipe Anderson, Mark Noble and Lukasz Fabianski.

Now the attention turns to Southampton at the London Stadium on Saturday. A win there is guaranteed to take West Ham out of the bottom three, with Aston Villa not playing.

And that might just provide them with the impetus they need to go on and start climbing the table between now and the end of the season.
