West Ham produced a magnificent performance away at Chelsea yesterday, and Declan Rice told reporters what skipper Mark Noble told the players before the game in what was a rousing speech, as quoted by the club’s official website.

The Hammers had been on a woeful run of form before the clash with the Blues. They had taken just two points from seven league games, and they sat in 17th spot in the Premier League table.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men put an end to the rot yesterday, however, and they were thoroughly deserving of all three points against Chelsea.

West Ham looked united as a team. They were organised defensively and looked extremely dangerous in the final third.

And Rice shared with reporters after the game what Noble told the players before their clash with Chelsea, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“You know what? Nobes got us together before the game and, with a couple of swear words in there, told us we had to be up for the game today. It’s a London derby, we hadn’t won in eight. And if we’d lost we would have been bang in trouble, we knew. We worked on our game-plan and frustrated Chelsea. And even thought it was one-nil, I thought it could have been much more.”

Things looking up for Pellegrini’s men…

Next up for West Ham is a trip to Wolves on Wednesday night. And they will need to be equally as good against Nuno’s side as they were against Chelsea, if they are to leave Molineux with maximum points.

Things are looking a lot brighter for Hammers fans this morning. And a win against Wolves on Wednesday would put them back in contention for the European places.
