West Ham ace Declan Rice was full of praise for Robert Snodgrass after yesterday’s draw with Sheffield United, suggesting that he knew the Scot would ‘play a blinder’ when he saw his name on the team-sheet, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 32-year-old hasn’t played regularly for the Hammers this season, but he was given a chance yesterday in place of Manuel Lanzini. And he didn’t disappoint.
Snodgrass opened the scoring for West Ham. Unfortunately for the Hammers, however, they had to settle for a point in the end.
The former Hull City man has surely now guaranteed a place in the team for next weekend’s clash with Newcastle United.
And Rice was effusive in his praise for his West Ham teammate, when speaking to reporters after yesterday’s match, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I knew he was going to come in and play a blinder like he did. The work rate he gives, and the deliveries from his left foot are special. He’s such a top pro and, yeah, I’m delighted for him today.”
West Ham are currently in the midst of a really poor run of form. Having Snodgrass return to somewhere near his best, however, will be a welcome bit of good news for the east London outfit.
When the Scot is on form, he can be a real asset for the Hammers. And West Ham fans might just see the best of him between now and the end of the season.
