Dean Ashton suggested that West Ham hitman Sebastien Haller looks like a totally different player now than the one who began the season, when speaking to talkSPORT today.

The French hitman joined the Hammers from Eintracht Frankfurt for around £45 million in the summer.

And he began his Premier League career in fine form, scoring four goals in his first seven league games.

The 25-year-old has struggled since then, however, scoring just one goal in his last 12 appearances in all competitions.

Haller seems to be completely isolated, but he’s not doing himself any favours. His work-rate leaves a lot to be desired, and considering his height, he is just not offering West Ham enough of an outlet in the final third.

The problem for Manuel Pellegrini is that he has little in reserve. Albian Ajeti is clearly not good enough. Michail Antonio is an option for the Chilean, but he has been missing for most of the season through injury.

So the former Eintracht Frankfurt forward has had to play through his bad run of form.

Ashton spoke to talkSPORT this morning at 09:30, and suggested that Haller’s confidence is shot to pieces:

“Haller looks like a totally different player than he did at the start of the season. Everyone was raving about him, now he looks like his confidence is shot to pieces. They’re not playing well at all.”

West Ham play host to Arsenal tonight, and Haller will be desperate to break his barren run.

With the Gunners in dire straits defensively, however, the 25-year-old will probably not have a better chance to rediscover his scoring touch.
