David Sullivan may be compelled to intervene as West Ham want to register Taty Castellanos for the Nottingham Forest game.
After losing 3-0 to Wolves at Molineux, West Ham will host Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium on 6 January.
This has seen pressure mounting on Nuno Espirito Santo as the Hammers could be seven points adrift if they lose their next game.
Imagine if Nuno were to be sacked…😮
Who would you want West Ham to replace him with and why?
David Sullivan could speed things up with the Castellanos transfer
With Leeds United also keen on Castellanos, it is imperative for the Irons to snap him up as soon as possible.
It could require some added incentives in order to convince the Lazio striker to pick the London Stadium over Elland Road.
With Leeds United going further clear of the Hammers in 18th, there could be an inclination to move there instead.
Castellanos would be a big upgrade over Callum Wilson!
However, given Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form, he is expected to be the first-choice starter.
The 27-year-old will get more game time at West Ham and that could be what swings it in their favour.
Sullivan knows that beating a relegation rival to a transfer would give his team a better chance of avoiding the drop.
With ExWHUEmployee claiming that the deal could be wrapped up in the next 24 hours, as Nuno wants Castellanos registered for the Nottingham Forest game.
That means the hierarchy need to do all they can to announce the signing and register him by 12 pm on Monday.

How do Castellanos and Pablo fit in the same West Ham starting eleven?
Signing two strikers for decent transfer fees suggests that Nuno does plan to move to a two-striker system and that could mean a 3-4-1-2 in all games.
It would be interesting to see if this means Jarrod Bowen playing as the number 10 or one of the new signings being deployed there.
Castellanos, given his hold-up play, could play there, or it could be the Portuguese forward playing on the wings as well.
While it is a possibility, although unlikely, Pablo would be the backup to Castellanos, with Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta playing as two wingers in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 system.
