West Ham United boss David Moyes got it 100 per cent right by allowing Sonny Perkins to join Leeds rather than offer him a new deal.

David Moyes actually gave Sonny Perkins his full debut for West Ham, but he left the London Stadium to join Leeds last summer.

Just after the 19-year-old left, he scored a brilliant 33-minute hat-trick for England under 19’s, and it seemed like Moyes might have made a big mistake.

According to The Athletic, Perkins is set to leave Leeds to join League One outfit Oxford on a season-long loan.

Perkins was clearly not ready to be playing football at the highest level last summer and a year later, that remains the case.

Who would have thought it? The man who watched the 19-year-old pretty much every day in training got the call to move him on 100% correct!

Listen, there’s every chance that the Leeds forward goes on to become a very good player.

What cannot be denied though is that West Ham were right not to hand Sonny Perkins a flashy new contract when he was still a teenager.
