West Ham confirmed the signing of Darren Randolph via their official Twitter account today:

And Hammers co-owner David Gold also took to Twitter, sharing his delight at Randolph’s return to the London Stadium:

Signing a new goalkeeper was of paramount importance for West Ham this month.

The problem is that some Hammers fans are not impressed with the 32-year-old’s return to the club.

And they let David Gold know about it:

And the tweets kept coming…

Lukasz Fabianski is out for around two weeks, according to West Ham’s official website.

So Randolph should go straight into the team if fully fit.

Not an exciting signing, but a needed one

One thing’s for certain…he is a better option than either Roberto or David Martin. So from that perspective, signing the 42-capped Republic of Ireland international seems like decent business.

The real problem is that the board are not popular at all amongst the West Ham fans. The supporters blame the Hammers’ lack of progress on Gold and David Sullivan.

And unless they start spending some serious money on transfers, that will not change anytime soon.

This month is a vitally important one for West Ham. And unless they bring in two or three top class players, relegation down to the Championship will be a very real prospect.
