Lost amidst all the drama of West Ham United’s late win over Everton was something of a return to form for Crysencio Summerville.

While Summerville has been one of the best forwards in the Premier League in 2026, it would perhaps be fair to say he had struggled to fully convince upon his recent return from injury.

How will the Premier League table look when it’s all said and done? 🤔

West Ham are in a precarious position with 4 games to go! 😬

That is, of course, understandable. Summerville missed three games after suffering a calf injury against Brentford in the FA Cup in March and duly struggled to match his own high standards.

That appeared to have changed on Saturday in West Ham’s win over Everton, however.

Summerville’s improved performance against Everton is a welcome boost

Tomas Soucek, Jarrod Bowen and Callum Wilson were always likely to attract more headlines than Summerville given they made quantifiable contributions to the victory here in east London.

Still, that doesn’t mean Summerville’s role in it should be overlooked.

Is this just a purple patch or is Summerville really one of the best forwards in the Premier League? 🤔

Indeed, the former Leeds star certainly passed the eye test. He looked more explosive in recent weeks, taking on defenders and posing problems when he drifted in-field.

Statistics from FotMob also underline his improved display. Summerville created two chances, completed two dribbles and had four touches in the opposition box.

That is more than he mustered in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace and in the 4-0 victory over Wolves upon his initial return.

Crucially, he also saw much more of the ball (57 touches) against Everton than he did in either of those games.

Summerville’s success comes at a good time for West Ham

West Ham are favourites to stay in the Premier League ahead of Tottenham right now but the race remains tight.

There are only two points in it, after all, and the race looks set to go down to the wire.

To have Summerville getting back up to speed at this crucial juncture of the campaign is significant.

The revival in form since mid-January has been thanks in large part to the 24-year-old. They need him to get back to his very best as quickly as possible, and Saturday’s showing was a promising start on that front.
