West Ham United have been linked with a move for out of contract former Manchester City star Yaya Toure.

According to the likes of The Daily Mail, the Hammers have held talks with Toure over a free transfer move to East London.

In his pomp Toure would have been a major coup for West Ham but barely featured for the Blues after Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the Etihad and turned 35 last month.

The prospect of signing Toure has divided West Ham fans.

Some feel it is the kind of transfer that has become typical of West Ham over the years and want that kind of business to stay in the past.

Others feel he could still have something to give.

But could the fact West Ham have spent over £90 million on seven players with some eye-catching arrivals change everything?

Pellegrini has got his business done nice and early and the co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold are finally showing the kind of ambition promised on leaving Upton Park for the London Stadium.

SWANSEA, WALES – MAY 15: Manuel Pellegrini, manager of Manchester City embraces Yaya Toure after the Barclays Premier League match between Swansea City and Manchester City at the Liberty Stadium on May 15, 2016 in Swansea, Wales.

West Ham fans are happy with what they have seen this summer and excited ahead of the new season.

So could supporters now be more open to the prospect of signing Toure to bolster their squad and midfield options?

Pellegrini and the player know each other well and providing Toure keeps himself in shape, he could be a very sage addition especially if the Hammers go on to seal some fringe players before the transfer window shuts.
