Jarrod Bowen joined West Ham in January on transfer deadline day for around £22 million (The Guardian).
The 23-year-old was in sensational form for Hull City before he joined the Hammers. He racked up 16 goals and seven assists for the Tigers in 29 Championship outings (Who Scored).
And Bowen, who earns £60,000 per week (The Guardian) made a great start to his West Ham career.
The talented attacker scored during his full home debut against Southampton at the end of last month.
And he impressed in the Hammers’ last outing away at Arsenal 10 days ago.
Covid-19 outbreak comes at worst possible time for Bowen
The 23-year-old had to bide his time. He had to make do with two substitute appearances for the first two games in which he was eligible to play for West Ham.
Bowen was then let off the leash against the Saints and the Gunners. He was obviously flying high on confidence, and he looked to be in great shape physically.
The coronavirus has put paid to that, however.
And the former Hull City ace will now be right back to square one.
Whenever football resumes, Bowen will have to start from scratch and rebuild his confidence and fitness up once again.
Covid-19 is affecting a lot of peoples’ lives. Football does seem to be somewhat trivial at the moment.
But in the context of the footballing world, the coronavirus has definitely come at a bad time for Bowen.
Let’s hope he can rediscover his best form as soon as possible, whenever action does actually resume.
