Chris Sutton suggested that he has spotted a massive problem at West Ham, when speaking on BBC Radio Five Live’s The Monday Club programme on Monday night.
The Hammers are in all sorts of trouble at the moment. They are languishing inside the bottom three, one point adrift of safety.
And things are set to get worse for West Ham.
In their next seven fixtures, they face games against Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Wolves, Tottenham and Chelsea.
David Moyes’s men really need to start picking up some wins before it’s too late. But with those games to come, that will be easier said than done.
The whole club is somewhat of a mess at the moment from top to bottom. The fans are disillusioned with the way in which the club is being run, the players are just not performing to the required standard and the London Stadium is seen by many as a soulless athletics track.
And Chris Sutton suggested that West Ham are a club in turmoil at the moment, when speaking on BBC Radio Five Live’s The Monday Club programme on Monday night:
“It’s not an easy place to play is it. The problem at the club at the moment is everybody is blaming each other and that’s a massive problem. It’s a club in turmoil. I’ve got sympathy for the owners because the fans aren’t helping. Moaning and groaning and giving the players stick is not helping the team at this moment in time. I think there are massive problems, it’s only going to get worse with the fixtures coming up. However bad it’s been, however bad they’re performing they need the fans, whether they’re angry about the stadium, the owners, the managerial appointment, they have to get behind the team.”
Sutton is right, the fans do need to get behind the team. But at the same time, the players need to give the London Stadium faithful something to shout about.
In fairness, you could probably count on one hand the amount of good performances put in by the Hammers players so far this season.
And that will have to change drastically, if West Ham are to avoid relegation down to the Championship.
