Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas suggested that he is surprised that Manuel Pellegrini is still manager of West Ham, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports.
The Hammers currently sit in 17th spot in the Premier League table. They are just three points clear of the drop zone. And Pellegrini’s men are bang in trouble, there is no hiding from that fact.
West Ham lost 3-2 at home to Tottenham last time out. And in truth, the score-line ended up flattering the Hammers.
The east London club have been truly woeful over the past two months, taking just two points from their last seven league games.
And things don’t get any easier for them, with a trip to Chelsea today.
Nicholas wrote his regular column for Sky Sports, and admitted that he thought Pellegrini would be sent packing after the Spurs defeat:
“I said Manuel Pellegrini was the favourite to go if he lost at Tottenham and I am pretty surprised he is still there. The fightback probably got him over the line.”
West Ham have a really tough set of games ahead of them. They face Chelsea away today, followed by a trip to Wolves in midweek, before playing host to Arsenal next weekend.
And defeats in those three games will surely spell the end for Pellegrini.
